Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel and Finnish veteran Kimi Raikkonen are fairly good friends off the circuit and were also teammates until 2018. During their time together, the two have got along swimmingly and it is clear for many to see. Back in 2011, Sebastian Vettel just clinched his second world championship and was tending the Autosport Awards at the time.

The host then told Vettel that in the following year, Raikkonen would be returning to Formula One after a sabbatical. It would be a highly significant year, as there would be six world champions on the grid. Aside from Vettel, the other champions are Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso, Raikkonen himself, Jenson Button and Michael Schumacher.

Unfortunately, Raikkonen could not be present at the award ceremony, to Vettel’s disappointment. However, he shook it off and then he proceeded to give a brief impersonation of the Finnish veteran, to everyone’s laughter.

Sadly, he could not keep up the impression for long, as Kimi’s soft and mumbly voice can be difficult to imitate. He then went on to talk about different subjects at the award show, before ending with ‘a complaint’ as he wouldn’t be German enough if he didn’t.

How did Sebastian Vettel Get Along With Raikkonen at Ferrari?

A few years down the line, Sebastian Vettel would partner Kimi Raikkonen at Scuderia Ferrari and they would race together for the next four years. During their tenure together, both drivers helped each other and Ferrari grow a little, though it rarely translated to wins. Raikkonen for his part stayed as Vettel’s rear gunner in his four years at Ferrari, without question. Even when Vettel botched his race, Raikkonen was there to salvage something for Scuderia Ferrari.

Then in 2019, Raikkonen took off the scarlet overalls and put on the Red and White uniform of Alfa Romeo. In the meantime, Raikkonen’s vacated seat was taken by Charles Leclerc.
