Comebacks are something every sports fan looks forward to. Not many things compare to the rush of excitement and the thrill of anticipation. In the golf world, one of the best was that of Tiger Woods winning the Masters in 2019. Stephen Curry was among those who considered it a great comeback. But the way the NBA legend framed his message to Woods, congratulating him for the win, left him wide open to being trolled.

Curry certainly admires the PGA Tour star. He has stated on numerous occasions that he draws inspiration from the 15-time major winner. He respects Woods greatly, but as per the fans, his words that day took it too far.

Soon after the 82-year-old PGA Tour winner won his last major at the Masters, Curry took to Twitter and wrote, “Greatest comeback story in sports!” Congrats @TigerWoods Let me hold one of those 5 jackets one time!” While all the four-time NBA Championship winner was trying to do was pay homage, his words struck a bad chord with the fans.

They were flabbergasted that Curry had gone on to call Woods’ comeback the best of all time when he himself had witnessed a historic NBA comeback in 2016. That year, the Golden State Warriors lost in the finals to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Curry’s Warriors were up 3-1 and needed only one more win to defend the championship. But LeBron James’ Cavaliers refused to back down. They won the three games that followed, making them the only team to ever come back from a 3-1 deficit to win an NBA championship final.

Woods’ glorious 2019 comeback

Although Cleveland’s comeback is tough to compete with, Woods isn’t too far behind either. The golf great up against some heavy hitters on the Tour like Dustin Johnson and Brooks Koepka. He had also never won a major by coming in from behind on the leader-board with only one round to go.

But the 82-time PGA Tour winner wasn’t one to give up. He fought tooth and nail in the final round. and turned his 2-stroke deficit into a one-stroke lead to take home the title at Augusta. marking his 15th championship victory, it is one of his most iconic wins to date. He took home his fifth green jacket that day and won a major after 11 years on the Tour.
