However, this new story by the greatest South African golfer, Gary Player, will drop your jaws. According to the retired golfer, this achievement by the former number-one golfer was the first and only most outstanding achievement in the sport’s history. 

Since the day he won masters in 1997, his greatness was already touching the sky. He received huge endorsement deals and paved his way to even more prosperous days. It was not just the fans who were mesmerized by his success rally, but outstanding golfers too, and Player is one of them. Winning a major championship 15 times is a tremendous deal, and he is just three victories shy from breaking the record of Jack Nicklaus’ 18 major wins.

The official Twitter handle of Golf.com has posted a video of retired golfer Gary Player, one of the greatest golfers of his time. In the video, we saw him talking about the fantastic time when Tiger Woods won a grand slam only at 24 in 2000. It was huge because Player won the grand slam at 29. He told his wife that no one would ever touch that point where he had reached. However, then entered the 82 times PGA tour winner, who swayed everyone.

He was so mesmerized by Woods’ achievement, and his words were a perfect showcase of it. He explained how great an achievement it was, “Nicholas comes along 26 Tiger 24. Folks, can you imagine winning the grand slam at 24? A lot of pros have never played in the grand slam at 24.” According to the nine major championship winner Player, that was the most significant achievement in the sport’s history. Yes, he was not just talking about golf, but sports. He said, “what he did at 24 is, in my opinion, and I study sports, and I love sports, is the greatest accomplishment ever achieved in sport.”

However, Player believes that if Woods had not encountered the dark phases of his life, he would have reached greater heights in his career. Explaining his grief, he said, “If he never had the mishaps that happened to him, whichever way you want to classify it, would have gone down as the greatest athlete, man or woman that the planet had ever seen.” And we cannot deny that. The injuries and the 2009 alleged scandal left a hole in his career.
