Patrick Reed has always been scrutinized in the world of golf for his cheating allegations. The golfer has been accused of cheating since his college days. Earlier this year after signing with LIV Golf, Reed suffered more heat from fellow golfers and fans who reminded him of his cheating allegations including the DP World Tour star, Mike Lorenzo-Vera.

Due to allegations of several rule infractions on the PGA Tour, Patrick Reed has been unable to get rid of the ‘cheater’ tag. He was also accused of stealing from his colleagues at the University of Georgia.

Reed joined the Saudi-backed Golf for their second event in Portland. The 2018 Masters winner received a lot of backlash from critics for his move. One of the critics was none other than the French golfer, Mike Lorenzo-Vera. The Frenchman brought back an incident from 2019 to embarrass Reed. The 31-year-old American was so frustrated with the tweet, that he decided to block Vera on Twitter.

The incident occurred when Reed tweeted a link on Twitter providing a code to acquire discounted tickets to the event. Reed had made his debut in the Saudi-backed Series at Pumpkin Ridge in Portland, Oregon, that week.

After that, Lorenzo-Vera reacted with a tweet of his own: “Does this code works if I want to buy a shovel ??? @PReedGolf ???” It was a reference to Reed waving a shovel at the fans during the 2019 Presidents Cup.

After suffering jeers throughout the competition owing to an incident at the Hero World Challenge the week before, Reed made the gesture. He was suspected of cheating after allegedly fixing his lie in a waste area. He was also assessed a two-stroke penalty for it.

Lorenzo-Vera’s remark did not escape Reed’s attention because the 37-year-old was blocked in return. However, the Frenchman wasn’t done yet. He gave one last response, by saying: “Well… that was fast…Bye Bye Cheat !!!” The Frenchman has previously been outspoken about his dislike of the Saudi-backed Tour.

It seems that Reed’s tweet promoting discounted tickets for the lucrative series was sufficient for the DP World Tour player to bring up a contentious incident in the American’s career that he would certainly prefer to forget. However, the 2018 Masters winner is looking to start his career at LIV Golf with a clean slate.
