Jon Rahm has ignited the fiery debate that calmed down for a bit in the middle. When the Spanish player stepped out of the TGL, it fueled the existing flames that he might defect to LIV Golf. Rahm has been among the strongest players on the PGA Tour that LIV Golf wasn’t able to break despite many tries. But with recent $600 million defection speculations, the Saudi league is not the one to fold.

LIV defector shares his opinion on Jon Rahm’s silence about the $600M news

English golfer Richard Bland, in 2022 joined the inaugural LIV Golf Invitational Series and became one of the defectors from the European Tour. The Spaniard has been awfully silent about all the floating-around speculations, and Bland has something to say about it.

The former DPWT pro recently appeared on the Flushing It podcast and addressed the alleged news of Rahm joining LIV Golf. Bland thinks that if the Spanish player should join the backway league, then it would be a terrific addition. Why is that? Well, the LIV defector thinks that Rahm has always been one of those players who’s never really been outspoken about LIV. He added, “He’s always kind of gone like, ya know, they’re doing their thing, we’re doing our thing.”

Bland continued his stance, and said, “You know, he’s never had a bad word to say about it.” The 1x European Tour winner said that whenever he had listened to Rahm in the press; he’s always been decent and just told things how they were. The 50-year-old further added, “He’s not really got too much involved in the and all the crap that’s gone on and things that have been said this, that and the other he just kind of gone on about his golf. 

Bland also thinks that, “Probably, that’s why he’s just played the golf he has over the last 12 months.” It is indeed one of the endearing qualities I the 29-year-old golfer which is why the PGA Tour is trying its best to make him stay.

What is the PGA Tour doing to stop Rahm from leaving?

Last week the PGA Tour Vice President, Eric Baldwin released a memo in which many of Rahm’s demands were met for the 2024 season. The Tour gave him special consideration for bathroom privileges. Earlier the Spaniard had demanded this special request just not for himself but for all. As a result, the PGA Tour golfers will have at least one relief station on every hole on all the courses for the upcoming tournaments.

There are some more changes in the memo for all players like parking privileges, nutrition additions in meals, and others. Currently, Rahm is in a very beneficial position with both the tours luring him towards themselves.
