The controversy and the mixed emotions tagging LIV Golf are there to remain. Where some fans are hostile towards the rival league, others are welcoming the competition it has to offer to the PGA Tour. The absence of the OWGR points for the LIV golfers, however, receives more affirmations than the opposition. But recently, fans finally settled on an age-long debate regarding a specific LIV OWGR issue!
Mickelson and Colt Knost’s heated exchange on Twitter
Phil Mickelson’s bold response to Colt Knost’s tweet did not take time to reignite the on-set controversy. It grasped the attention of golf fans across the globe. Caddie Network, a media agency, did not shy away from making the most out of it. They were quick to ask their audience if LIV Golf, according to them, should earn OWGR points.

In his tweet, Colt Knost reflected serious opinions. The former pro asked the players to actually take up the responsibility. According to him, knowing the criteria meant achieving it and not complaining about it.
Lefty as always had his bundle of opinions ready. He blamed the OWGR for not ranking all the players in the world. The tweet continued with other serious allegations about the World rankings.
Fans majorly lean towards an anti- LIV Golf stance
The fans were quick to share their stance under the question posed. Where there were few affirmations, the disagreements overpowered those by a large majority.
One of the fans replied, “NO, you don’t go around changing how golf is played (54 holes) and expect they give you ranking for been lazy. (Playing every other week). Who wants a baseball game ending in 7 innings or a NBA played in 3 instead of 4 periods.”
Another response came in, “No. They chose money over golf.” Followed by a fan tweeting, “Hell no”.

Some of the fans who took the yes side only because they believed that best players deserve to have a chance to play at the major tournaments.
Yes, because majors deserve to have the best players. Period

The comments section overall did not pave well for the LIV Golf Players. 54 holes, no-cut events, and the absence of a free path to qualifying for LIV events were some of the reasons that fans mentioned as an answer to ‘why’.
Nope, 54 holes, not open to any golfers. Must be invited. No Monday Q to get in LIV tour.

No! You can't convince me that these LIV posers are playing in anything close to the same competitive environment that PGA Tour players are. Let me know when @livgolf_league has 72 hole events with a 36 hole cut and gets rid of the men's scramble atmosphere.

No, if the Masters was a 54 hole event, Brooks Keopka would have won. Being that it isn't, he had to play the 4th round and lost. Wins in a 54 hole event with limited fields are nothing more than an exhibition and therfore not eligible for OWGR points.

Amongst the black-and-white opinions, some fans chose to be in the grey area. They believed that the inclusion of LIV Golf players is not on the to-do list for OWGR ranking this year. However, the proposition could be taken up in the future and some changes applied to the LIV Golf system. One of the fans commented, “Play 4 rounds and they might be worthy. Otherwise no. Simple.“
