During the press conference, the golfers were asked to describe the competitive joy they are feeling of being able to play together. Spieth could not be more excited about it. In his words, “It’s really fun, right? He’s my best friend in the whole world.”

Spieth and Thomas have been close friends since they were both 13 years old, and competed against each other for the first time at the Junior All-Star event at Walnut Creek Country Club. They both opened with a score of 68 during the two-day event. But Spieth took a two-stroke lead on the front nine of the second day. In the end, Spieth emerged victorious.

Spieth and Thomas have been friends and competitors for what we feel like forever. They’ve played at the sport’s highest level, and their success has only fueled each other’s fire. Today, they’re playing together for Team USA at the Presidents Cup.
