Tiger Woods is one of the most successful players in the golf world. The 15-time major winner has more records than most other players on the field. And all of this comes at the cost of Woods following his principles. However, the golfer recently talked about one of his strange habits that has a certain yet powerful motive behind it!

Why does Tiger Woods not carry an umbrella?

Woods was raised by his father, who was a navy seal in the US Army. Other than being his father, Earl Woods was also Tiger’s coach as well as his mentor for life. And the golfer has talked about his relationship with his father in several interviews. Woods has also disclosed that despite his father being in the army, his mother was stricter.

However, in a recent interview, Woods discussed a very strange habit of not carrying an umbrella no matter how much it rains. And it’s not because someone else carries it for him. It’s because his father taught him something that he would never forget. The golfer said that he never carried an umbrella to the field, nor did he wear a rain jacket.

He recalled his father’s mentality about playing in the rain and said“I don’t mind being wet because pops used to say, ‘Once you’re wet, you’re wet! Deal with it. You only get wet once’” He stated that maybe it was because of his father being in the navy that he knew what it meant to face difficulties and stand strong. But these teachings by Earl Woods are why the golf legend stands so high today. It is not ordinary for a man to go through so much in life and still be a champion!

What does Woods do to play in the rain?

Rather than using an umbrella to stay dry, Woods likes to face the water head-on and compete. However, it is not the same for his equipment. The golfer’s caddie carries at least 2 towels to make sure that the clubs are wiped before every shot. He also disclosed carrying around 15-16 gloves to a tournament when it’s raining. But something that every fan must remember is that nothing comes in Woods’ way of playing his best shots in any tournament, not even rain.
