The golf pro explained that he just didn’t feel that competitive spirit anymore, and that he knows he could no longer compete at the level he was in his prime. “I can still play well, but not for 10 hours a day,” he stated. Norman explained that he only played with his friends and family for fun now. And it was nothing like the high-pressure games he used to play on the PGA Tour. “I’ll go out with my friends and son at Royal Palm, Jupiter Country Club, Parkland, places like that.” The Australian legend had come a long way from his winning mindset on the course back in the day.
Norman’s competitive spirit had turned into a social one
He explained to the reporter that golf was now his way of socializing. During the rare instances that he played, it was with extremely successful people. And it was more to gather knowledge than just to play golf.

He claimed that if he could choose who he could play a round with, then it wouldn’t be a fellow golfer at all. Former Presidents Bush and Clinton would enjoy playing with the shark. And he also wanted nothing more than to share a course with the former Secretary of Defense, Donald Rumsfeld. But why them? “Well, to ask them about foreign policy,” claimed the 20-time PGA Tour winner.
