Tiger Woods is the name that strikes to mind when one hears the word “golf”. The sport of golf originated in the 15th century in Scotland, but Woods is the one who gave it a definition and recognition that it has today. One would think that he has an impressive career statistics after joining the PGA tour. But the least known fact about him is that he was a prodigy child when it comes to golf. Woods has been an inspiration to the golf community ever since he was a small kid. He began to play golf at an early age of two. Not many of you would know but he displayed his skills in a television appearance on the Mike Douglas Show in 1978. He truly is a god’s gift, he started playing golf when he was a toddler.

Woods is not only an inspiration to the current generation of golf but also for the upcoming ones. The bar set by him for the junior golfers is extremely high. In an interview for the TGR foundation , Tiger on being asked when he started playing golf and how many tournaments he has won, replied, “When I was 11, my mom made me donate all my trophies because I won a 113.”

In the further conversation, Tiger said, ” When I was 11, my life peaked. I got straight A’s, I got outstanding for efforts and participation. Never got in trouble during recess. I won 36 tournaments that summer and I think I had the cutest girlfriend at that time. ”

The greatest golfer of all time is followed by a stunning statistical record. Woods, the 15-times major winner puts up second on the list of men’s major winners after Jack Nicklaus. The debate over if Woods will ever be able to break Nicklaus’s record of 18-times major winner is never ending. Not just that Tiger has won four times at the US PGA Championship and has three victories each at The Open and the U.S. Open.
Woods had been on the 1st position on Official World Golf Ranking for 683 weeks straight. He easily surpassed the previous record streak of 113 held by Byron Nelson between 1998 and 2005 by making the cut in 142 straight PGA Tour events. And not to forget, the prodigy is the only one to win four present majors in the same year.
