LIV Golfer Talor Gooch, made a big victory last weekend as he emerged victorious at the LIV Golf Andalucía tournament in Spain. The 31-year-old defeated 1 time major winner Bryson DeChambeau, at the Valderrama event, and took home the first prize.

Gooch has been praised by fans and fellow LIV Golfers for an outstanding performance at the tournament. However, hours after his big win of $4 million, Gooch has made a rather bold statement that reflects on another controversial statement made last year.

Despite the merger, the bitter spat between LIV Golf and PGA Tour fails to cease. The enmity among the leagues and its players has housed so deep that every now and then someone ends up throwing a bomb at the opponent. And once again adding fuel to the fire is LIV defector Talor Gooch. In an interview given to the Telegraph, Gooch said that although he aims to play at the Ryder Cup, he does not regret his previous statement regarding it.

Especially after LIV Golf’s team 4 Aces GC claimed victory at Portland last year. “There’s no doubt that we all dream of playing the Ryder Cup and that it is different than LIV. I won’t say that I regret saying it. I’ll just comment that I was ‘in the moment.” This statement by Gooch has somewhat clarified the state of mind in which he made the bold statement.

Last year at Portland’s LIV Golf Invitational Series, Dustin Johnson led 4 Aces GC, won the team title by seven shots at 23 under. DJ and other LIV players on the team were given $750,000 each. Gooch, who also played at the event, ranked 4th and took home the prize money of an impressive $675,000. That huge win and now another LIV golf victory has provided him with the vigor to continue such bold claims from last year.

Taylor Gooch’s controversial comment on Ryder Cup

Last year Talor Gooch created havoc when he made a very biased comparison of the Ryder Cup with LIV Golf. He offended a big community of golf fans when he made a comparison between the LIV Golf Invitational event at Pumpkin Ridge to the coveted Ryder Cup. Gooch said – “I haven’t played a Ryder Cup or a Presidents Cup, but can’t imagine there’s a whole hell of a lot of difference.”

This scandalous statement attracted a fierce rebellion of people last year who criticized Gooch for comparing the historic Ryder Cup to a brand new league with no standing at that moment.

Although his wish to perform at the coveted Ryder Cup remains, only the future will tell if Gooch could compete in it after repeating his previous claims without an apology.
