Had there been a contest for Mr. Congeniality in golf, Jon Rahm would undoubtedly win! The Spaniard is well loved by all. In fact, his comradery and friendship even softened his friend and Ryder Cup teammate, Rory McIlroy’s, stance after his defection. It is safe to say players ooze affection for Rahm around him, and that is clearly not an exception in the new league either!

Ahead of LIV Golf Jeddah this week, it was Kieran Vincent who had some heartwarming words about the former PGA Tour pro. Shedding light on a lesser-seen side of Rahm’s personality, he revealed that, come what may, he knew the 2-time major winner would stand by him!

At the LIV Golf Jeddah pre-event conference, Kieran Vincent, one of Rahm’s picks for his LIV team Legion XIII, was asked about his experience playing with the Spaniard, who’s probably the best player in the world right now.” The golf pro instantly responded by singing praises for the new face of LIV. “I think I’ve mentioned this many, many times, but he’s such a good guy, not only on the golf course but off,” he stated, explaining that Jon Rahm was an ideal role model. “He is a look-up to for a lot of youngsters.”

Vincent recalled instances where the 11-time PGA Tour winner showcased his humility through the little things. Be it being courteous and polite or extending simple invitations to them, like joining him for breakfast when he was going to get some for the 26-year-old, it went a long way. “When I was signing up, I didn’t think that was going to be a possibility,” he said.

The Zimbabwean further explained that what separated World No. 3 from others was his “relationalness.” “He’s so good to want to talk about anything and everything, share a little bit of insight of what’s kind of got him to here, but also just really be alongside you and be your friend, knowing that if you’re in a dark place, you need some help, he’s going to help you.

Vincent claimed that it was these things that not only made him admire Rahm but also made their entire team function very smoothly. “I think the whole team dynamic just works super well, so I’m very fortunate to find myself in that situation.” Notably, it’s not just the Asian Tour winner who thinks the Spaniard is a born leader. The others on the team do so too!

The Zimbabwean pro made one thing clear: Jon Rahm has undoubtedly had a huge impact on his team. And Tyrrell Hatton just weeks ago reflected the same sentiment. In an interview, the LIV star spoke highly of the Spaniard’s “fiery” spirit and claimed that it helped those around him rise up too. “I think we’re both fairly similar, pretty fiery people, but Jon is obviously a fantastic player and naturally brings a great energy. So yeah, I genuinely enjoy being in Jon’s company.”

Rahm, moreover, even flaunted these much-talked-about leadership qualities, guiding the Legion XIII to a commanding victory at Mayakoba last month. And while they celebrated with champagne on the podium, his team knew they owed some of it to him.
