In 2022, Abraham Ancer became one of several prominent golfers to jump ship from the PGA tour to LIV Golf.
For months, people speculated whether LIV golfers including Ancer would be eligible to compete at the 2023 Masters. However, the organizers’ revelation has put to rest months of speculation surrounding Ancer’s eligibility.
So, will Ancer’s fans see him compete at the Augusta National?

Is Abraham Ancer playing at the 2023 Masters?
Any golfer who qualified under the previous eligibility criteria would be able to compete in 2023. All players in the Top 50 of OWGR the week before each Masters, who haven’t been barred otherwise, are eligible to compete at the event. This makes the currently 30th-ranked Ancer eligible to appear at the Masters.

The 87th edition of the Masters will take place at the Augusta National Golf Club from April 6-9. 18 LIV stars, including Ancer, Phil Mickelson, Patrick Reed, and Sergio Garcia have earned invitations for the Masters.
“Although we are disappointed in these developments, our focus is to honor the tradition of bringing together a preeminent field of golfers this coming April,” Augusta National Chairman, Fred Ridley, said in a statement.
LIV golfers eligible to compete in the Masters
With golfers from the PGA Tour and LIV Golf factions going head to head in the coming week, the Masters promises viewers a lot of excitement.

“As we have said in the past, we look at every aspect of the Tournament each year, and any modifications or changes to invitation criteria for future Tournaments will be announced in April,” said Ridley.

Abraham Ancer, who defected from the PGA Tour in June last year, has impressed fans with his recent performances. In February, Ancer beat Cameron Young to clinch the PIF Saudi International on the Asian Tour.
