For 30-year-old Lexi Thompson, January 1, 2025, was truly a milestone. Firstly, it was the first day of the year that she was not a full-time professional golfer. She chose to retire from such commitments to focus more on herself and spend time with friends and family. It was also the day she made a huge alteration to her personal life. She was now a fiancée. You see, after her admission in 2024, “I’ll be 30 next year, so settle down, get married, have a family. That’s my No. 1 priority,” fans expected this, but not that soon.

During her New Year’s trip to Whistler, Canada, Thompson’s boyfriend, Max Provost, popped the question, to which she said yes. “The best part of my trip to Whistler … I said YES to my forever and always.” The 1-time major winner had shared a post with a photo of the engagement. Provost, her boyfriend-turned-fiance, works as a clinical sales representative at Intuitive Surgical. Revealing about a wedding date, Thompson had said, “Next year, for sure.” While it is happening next year, preparations are in full swing apparently, and the LPGA golfer has zeroed in on the makeup team for the big day.

Lexi Thompson shared a post of Naples Bridal Makeup and Hair, a company run by Brandi Perkins, as her Instagram story. In that story, she was dolled up and posing at various angles. She shared a note, “Can’t wait to get this glam for my wedding.” What was surprising was that this was an old post of the company. Thompson had gotten her makeup done to attend the Rolex Awards function in 2023. The company’s Instagram page put this as a story in a series of throwbacks.

The Naples Bridal Makeup and Hair company also caters to other celebrities from the golfing world. Nelly Korda, the current World No. 1 golfer, also got her makeup done here before the 2024 Rolex Awards. While just reposting a makeup story is not cause for queries, adding the dubious notes indicates that something sinister is afoot. It has been 120 days since Thompson announced her engagement to Provost, and there have been very few updates on that front since then.

Despite no concrete news regarding wedding dates or other such information, she has taken part in some of the LPGA Tour events, and is living her best life as a part-time golfer.

Lexi Thompson after semi-retirement

Thompson had initially shocked the golfing world with her decision to retire from professional golf in 2024. But at the 2024 Grant Thornton Invitational in December, she clarified herself, stating, “I did say [I’m retiring] just from a full-time schedule.  Just going to take that time for myself, spend it with my family and friends, and really just decompress and make sure that if or when I do decide to play, that I’m ready and I’m in a good mind space.”

Since her semi-retirement, the 11-time LPGA Tour winner has featured on the circuit a total of four times. She finished T13 at the Founders Cup and T38 at the Ford Championship before missing the cut at the JM Eagle LA Championship. She took part in the Chevron Championship, where she had the chance to contend for the title but slipped up on the last day, leading her to finish T14.

Lexi is having a great time being a part-time golfer. When asked, “Is there a big difference between Lexi, the player that played forever, and now Lexi, the part-time player?” at Carlton Woods, she answered, “I wouldn’t say a big difference. I’m the same person. Golfer-wise, maybe a touch because I’m not playing as much.”

Do you think Thompson can win her 12th title on the Tour despite only committing to a part-time schedule before her wedding next year?
