It seems the much-anticipated deal is soon hitting the golf world! The community was abuzz with news regarding the upcoming merger. Surprisingly, it appears that the PIF-funded circuit would remain as a separate entity in a “revised” version of the deal, as per reports shared by news handles a while back.

A tweet was shared by NUCLR GOLF on their X handle (previously known as Twitter), mentioning, as per reports from SI, how “Significant progress” has been made by the two circuits during their negotiations with each other. Moreover, the post also reports how “a revised framework agreement” is “likely set to be unveiled soon.” Interestingly, Bob Harig also reported that there is a high probability that the deal might have already taken place.

The uncertainty in the PGA Tour-LIV Golf deal

Harig, in his report, divulges how all the signals point to a possible framework agreement nearing in the community: “a long-discussed deal between the PGA Tour, DP World Tour and Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia is near, if not already completed.” Adding on, the reporter recalled the report made by Sportico not too long ago about how SSG has supposedly decided to invest in the men’s circuit, or more specifically, in the “domestic rights” of the PGA TOUR Enterprises.

Curiously enough, the question of what to do with the Saudi-backed league was raised. Although the Middle Eastern circuit being “shuttered” was a “possibility,” the money they invested into the same does not deem the option a realistic one. But even so, incorporating the alternate tour into the new organization is not easy either.
