Paige Spiranac brings up Greg Norman’s 1996 collapse

Despite winning 90 titles worldwide, LIV CEO Greg Norman is best remembered for some of his tragic slip-ups at big events. One such incident occurred during the 1996 Masters when Sir Nick Faldo edged past the Australian to take home the coveted green jacket.

On April 14, 1996, then 41-year-old Norman blew a six-shot lead on the event’s last day. His last-round 78 came with four bogeys and five double-bogeys. Even Faldo, who clinched the title with a final-round 67, couldn’t help but feel sorry for the runner-up.

Ends up losing by five.” Spiranac, who served as a Super Bowl correspondent earlier this year, also talked about other big collapses in sports history.

Spiranac started off her list with Atlanta Falcons throwing away a 28-3 in 2017 against Tom Brady and the New England Patriots six years ago. She also recalled another golfing collapse, saying, “The 1999 Open. Jean van de Velde has a 3-shot lead going into 18. [He] makes a triple to get into playoff and then loses.

She also mentioned the 1993 Houston Oilers, who had a 35-3 lead in the 3rd quarter against the Buffalo Bills but threw it away.
