She is undoubtedly the most-talked-about player right now in the LPGA Tour. Nelly Korda managed to reclaim the top spot on the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings for the sixth time in her career, all thanks to her recent victories in three straight starts. However, concerns naturally arise; with the majors and the Olympics inching closer, will she be able to keep up her form?

The current world No.1 was spotted giving an interview ahead of the T-Mobile Match Play presented by MGM Rewards on Tuesday. Meanwhile, as she did so, Korda divulged the mindset that she adopted ahead of the upcoming majors all the while denying any Tiger Woods-like effect she has on the leaderboards.

Nelly Korda comes out candid on her ‘major’ mindset

During the presser, a journalist couldn’t help but point to the “Tiger effect” that the LPGA Tour Pro has on the other players. They, apparently, feel the need to step up their game when they spot the professional on the leaderboard. However, she was quick to deny the impact her name has on the golfers in the field as she said, “I don’t even think that way at all. I’m just out here playing golf, competing, and having fun.”

What’s more, it appears the 25-year-old doesn’t want to think about it too much when it comes to the prestigious events as well. “I don’t try to change my attitude for the majors,” disclosed Korda after mentioning how she “always try to stay very, very present.” She considers it, in her words, “just another regular LPGA tournament,” which boasts a similar line-up as always.

Adding on, the 1-time major champ pointed out how the fields for the majors are “just as strong” as the usual LPGA Tour events. “You see pretty much the same girls every week,” said the American pro before continuing, “You play on amazing golf courses.” This, for Nelly Korda, already adds enough pressure to the majors and she is not too keen on changing her winning mindset for the same as she expressed, “I’m going to take every win and every good round.”

It seems the 11-time LPGA Tour champ is not too keen on cooking up a different frame of mind towards the majors and the Olympics. She surely has a point. If the athlete manages to keep her momentum going, it won’t be too hard to rake in another major win soon.

Korda’s victory run in the LPGA Tour

The 25-year-old managed to emerge victorious in the last three events she played on the women’s circuit. Two months after winning the LPGA Drive On Championship in January, she won the FIR HILLS SERI PAK Championship followed by the Ford Championship, the last of which she scored an amazing 20-under 268 to claim the top spot.

Interestingly, at the event in Palos Verdes, Nelly Korda registered figures of 9-under 275 and tied with Ryann O’Toole after which she beat the golfer in a playoff hole. Meanwhile, she experienced a similar situation in January as well when she initially tied with Lydia Ko before going ahead to beat her in a playoff hole when she raked in her first 2024 win in Bradenton Country Club. If all goes well, as it is currently going for the pro, then her fans may very well be in for another scintillating display of golf.
