The 2023 Amundi Evian Championship is all set to start at the Evian Resort Golf Club in France. The event being the fourth major this year in women’s golf is co-sanctioned by the LPGA and LET. All female golfers wish to participate in the only major tournament in continental Europe, making it a much anticipated sporting event.

Who is playing and what is the format of the Amundi Evian Championship?

As the event is set to kick off on July 27th, it will see a field of 132 golfers take on the Evian golf course. After the first two days, the top 70 and ties will make the cut moving to play the next two rounds over the weekend. The likes of Rose Zhang, Jin Young Ko, Nelly Korda and Lydia Ko are competing for the trophy.

Jin Young Ko is tipped to win the tournament by many on account of her recent performances and her current ranking in women’s golf. Brooke Henderson emerged victorious last year and she will hope for a second successive victory at the tournament this year.

Aside from the prize money, many benefits are awaiting the winner. The champion will be able to take home the title and the much-coveted trophy. She will also see a huge boost to her Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings. Moreover, the players will be hoping to earn points in the Race to the CME Globe and get into the season ending CME Group Tour Championship. The four-day event will be played in stroke play over four rounds with 18 holes per day.

The championship has been giving out a hefty sum to the winners along with the trophies. The total purse and winner’s cut remain the same as last year. In 2022, the major had a prize purse of $6.5 million. Brooke Henderson took home her winner’s reward money of $975,000 and the same will be offered to the winner this year. The runner-up of the tournament will be making $604,812.
