Supporting his fellow Americans in need, John Daly told TMZ Sports that he wanted to help. The ‘Wild Thing’ has been marred in his fair share of controversies, which include multiple drinking problems.
“I texted Dustin a few days ago and told him how much I love him. He’s talented…. he’s the future of golf,” Daly said. However, he mentioned that he would be happy to help only if Johnson needed it and approached him for the same.
“My heart goes out to him. I would love to help but I know how things are and he would have to come to me,” he said. Daly has been quite frank about his struggles with the bottle. He remained sober for the sake of his multi-million contracts, but it didn’t work out.
He mentioned in the same piece that people need to understand addiction is not a weakness, it’s a disease. “It’s not something you ever fully get over … but it is something you can get control of.”
“I want Dustin to know that I’m here for him,” he concluded.
