Mickelson may have ruffled quite a few feathers in the golf community over the past year, but he is still regarded as one of the best ever to play the game. Since he went pro in 1992, the golfer has nabbed several iconic achievements and won six majors, the last coming in 2021.

Now, a recent tweet from the PGA Tour’s Michael Kim has proved once again why the LIV pro is often regarded as a golf great. In his tweet, Kim recounted the time he played at the Farmers Insurance Open with Mickelson during COVID. Shedding light on Lefty’s desire to improve continuously, the World No. 88 wrote, “What stood out was, after all these years he was still grinding out pars even when we were in 50th place.

He was so into the round. In last month’s Masters, an in-form Mickelson ensured a T2 finish, shutting down many of his detractors. Unfortunately, his Augusta heroics haven’t followed him to Oak Hill, where the golfer narrowly made the cut on Friday. Regardless, given that it was a significant milestone when it come to cuts made at a major, the 6-time major winner has much to celebrate!

Mickelson achieves a big career milestone at Oak Hill

The 2021 PGA Championship win was a huge milestone in Phil Mickelson’s illustrious career. Making his 30th appearance in the major, Mickelson managed to stay under the cut line on Friday. In doing so, he joined the prestigious roster of players who have made 100 cuts in a major! He further equaled Jack Nicklaus and Raymond Floyd’s record with 27 made cuts at the PGA Championship. As the event heads into its final day, the golfer currently sits at T67 on the leaderboard, where he is tied with three others.
