Jack Nicklaus or Tiger Woods? Who is the greatest golfer of all time? The fans of both entities have always found it hard to get to a conclusion to this question. That is why when the American golfer Bryson DeChambeau called Tiger the “best ever,” Twitter exploded with mixed reactions from the fans.

Even though DeChambeau failed to make the cut at the 2022 Masters, he stayed back to watch and support his comeback event. “I came out to support the best ever,” were his exact words, according to Dylan Dethier of Golf Magazine’s tweet.

The 2022 Masters was Tiger’s first official event since his accident. Yet, he had made the cut at the event, which made DeChambeau show his support to him.

Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus, who is the GOAT? 

It is hard to come to a conclusion whether Woods is the GOAT or Nicklaus. However, here are some of the facts about both of them that make them two of the best golfers of all time. 

Woods and Nicklaus are two of the best golfers to compete in major championships. Nobody has ever been able to beat both of them in terms of the majors. They have won 33 titles altogether. 

Nicklaus has won 18 majors throughout his career, including 6 Masters, 5 PGA Championships, 4 US Opens, and 3 Open Championships. He still holds the record for winning the most Masters titles. 

While he holds the record of winning the most number of majors, Nicklaus also has the most runner-up finishes in the majors with 19 times. Furthermore, he also was part of the Top 5 56 times, whereas he has been placed in the Top 10 73 times. The golfer has also won 8 majors on the PGA Tour Champions.

On the other hand, Tiger has won 15 majors throughout his career. He has won 5 Masters, 4 PGA Championships, and 3 Open and US Open Championships. Furthermore, Woods has secured the runner-up position 7 times in his career. He also has been placed 33 times in the Top 5 players. 

Moreover, Woods has won 82 PGA Tour events, whereas Nicklaus has won 73

Both Nicklaus and Woods have had successful careers. While Nicklaus has retired, Woods is still playing on the Tour. Only time can tell whether Woods can beat the records set by Nicklaus in the majors.

Nevertheless, both the players have been an asset to the golf world. Their contributions to the sport have been bigger than anybody else.
