Always monitor the sky, particularly during a PGA Tour event. Recent times have made this clear, with adverse weather conditions having plagued the often Jay Monahan-led circuit this season. This has consequently resulted in the suspension of numerous rounds in various tournaments. Therefore, it naturally raises the question, How will the Valero Texas Open fare?

Interestingly, the golf world is eagerly awaiting the start of the 15th event on the 2024 calendar of the men’s circuit. And, naturally, one can’t help but wonder what TPC San Antonio has in store for us on Thursday, when the first round will kick off!

As per weather reports for April 4, which will see the first round being played at TPC San Antonio, the morning is predicted to witness a maximum temperature of 86F while dipping as low as 55F for the day. Fortunately, the prediction also points to a 0% chance of rain!

Moreover, the forecast also predicts a slight breeze blowing southwest at 18 mph. But a zero chance of perspiration indicates a day with a low amount of clouds in the sky, leading to a sunny morning. That’s not all; the round will also see a humidity of 39%, leading to a comfortable day to be expected on the greens.

Fortunately, if the predicted weather conditions persist, then the first round of play will go on to end without any worries. However, if the Tour’s unpredictable conditions persist, a few golfers might have to complete their first round on Friday, a scenario reminiscent of the second round of the Valspar Championship.

It appears the golfing community can rest easy for the day, as they will be able to watch the first round’s play go on without a hitch. Meanwhile, the excitement will only increase as the final stop of the PGA Tour in Texas sees more golfers teeing it up at San Antonio to rake in a cut of the $9.2 million prize purse.

The tournament will kick off with a total of 156 players, unlike the usual number of 144 golfers. Thus, there will be more action on the greens, which may further lead to more athletes being forced to resume their play the next day if unforeseen, unfavorable weather conditions arise.

The recently ended Valspar Championship also saw a similar field of golfers teeing it up at the Copperhead Course. Such a decision was taken to increase the playing time for as many fully exempt TOUR members as possible, including those from the KFT, DP World Tour, and Q-School.
