Phil Mickelson is currently playing at the season finale at the Charles Schwab Cup Championship, formerly known as the Senior Tour Championship. Intriguingly, after a great round, Mickelson had a great tip for upcoming professional golfers- followed with a real life example of his advice.
Mickelson will enter the final round of the cup standing in fifth position, and he will hope for a big finish to what has been a splendid season for him. Jim Furyk, leading the field, inches closer to his fourth title on the senior tour.

Phil Mickelson praises Jim Furyk’s work ethic
Jacob, a young golfer from Vancouver, asked Lefty whether he had any advice for people like him, who were aspiring to be pros. Mickelson answered the question in great detail.

Mickelson, 45-time winner on the PGA Tour, said, “Just gotta work hard. You can get by in junior golf and college on talent, but you’ve go too many people that are talented that will work hard. So, it just depends on how bad you want it, you know?”

Engaging the crowd that was hanging onto every word, he said, “Jim Furyk is a great example of a guy who in college had a year or two where he really struggled and he worked hard. And he became a hall of fame player and a Ryder Cup captain and he just works really hard. There’s a lot of guys that had a lot of natural talent, but didn’t put it in the work. So, just how bad you want it.”
After Phil’s advice, there was a brief interview with Jacob, who posed the question. He said that it was ‘really cool’ and that it was ‘special for a guy like him’. He also complimented the special attention that Lefty paid to Jacob while answering his question.
