As the current scenario with LIV Golf’s loss of access to OWGR points persists, it’s the players who continue to suffer. The newly updated ranking system has become a hot topic for professional golfers as well as for fans. It is something to seriously worry about. And with LIV Golf’s complete incapability to become an OWGR-sanctioned league, the Saudi golfers continue to fall in the world rankings. And after a recent tweet revealing Bryson DeChambeau’s major setback, the golf world is giving all kinds of reactions.
Bryson DeChambeau suffers another major setback due to his association with LIV Golf
Bryson DeChambeau was one of the first few players to switch to LIV Golf, leaving his entire PGA Tour legacy behind. The golfer used to be known as the longest hitter on the Tour. However, his decision to join the Saudi circuit was a ‘business decision’ according to him.

But the golf hulk suffered numerous setbacks after joining LIV Golf. Losing his PGA Tour membership was just the beginning. After accepting the alleged $125 million offer from Greg Norman, DeChambeau was no longer a part of the American Tour. And as he lost his place on the PGA tour, like all other defectors, the golf hulk’s access over his OWGR points was also gone.
According to a recent tweet by LIV Golf Latest, DeChambeau has dropped out of the top 100 players on the OWGR list. Despite being amazingly talented, his official world ranking is nowhere near the top. Moreover, LIV’s individual champion from the first season, Dustin Johnson, has lost his spot in the top 50. And after the news got out on social media, fans are giving mixed reactions to it.
Fans react to the latest news about DeChambeau
Golf fans have been dropping all kinds of comments on the recent tweet about ‘The Scientist’. While some are standing in support of the golfer, others continue to call it a consequence of his joining LIV. Here’s what some of them said:
Many fans highlighted the fact that DeChambeau had in fact stayed off the field for so long that he ought to fall out of the top 100.
Missed basically a year to injuries. The 2019/2020 season falling off the reporting. He hasn’t played amazing due to injuries and performance. Last time he contended in a major was the US Open at Torrey before the blow up on back 9. That’s after calling augusta a par 68

You misspelled meaningful. If you don’t play pro tournaments you don’t get points. I still don’t get why it’s so hard for LIVers to understand something so simple.
Also, even playing LIV Bryson has not played well. Do you think he should get points just because of his past?

What has Bryson done in the last year? Be honest he's not in the top 100 based on his play. Long drive comps don't count.

Others highlighted that the golfer had chosen to leave the PGA Tour on his own. Moreover, despite his rankings going down, his bank account numbers must be going higher! And so, as per fans, he shouldn’t be worried about the rankings.
It was their choice to quit playing tournament golf and take huge paydays for the Saudi exhibition circuit. Why is that so hard for you to understand?

But their bank account ratings keep going up. God said choose one or the other so it doesn’t look like I’m playing favorites. Further god said I already blessed u to be in position to make this winner winner chicken dinner choice. Be greatful damn it or I’ll take it away. Thunder

Their choice. The sold out. This is part of the price.
— John Ziegler (@Zigmanfreud) February 7, 2023
Exhibition golf doesn’t count. Figure it out. No one cares about your group. Check out the ratings or lack of. Lol.

But, there were also some who were in support of the player and LIV Golf. A few fans comforted the golf star, saying it was going to be alright as soon as the league becomes a 72-hole event.
They do – but the sooner LIV events are 72 holes, the sooner golf officials will consider awarding rankings points to @livgolf_league events. It ain’t rocket science.

Give it time. It will all work out. Thank God Justin Rose showed up and played well at pebble this weekend or it would be the minor leaguers winning the tournament. The PGA has become so boring with so many no names I can hardly watch it unless I need a good nap.LIV is Strong.
