It is not uncommon for athletes to keep a souvenir from a life-changing event in the game. To commemorate an award or a ceremony in their own way, they may keep something to remember it by. Jon Rahm, since turning pro in 2016, has had a lot to celebrate. So, it would not be surprising if he had a closet full of souvenirs. He has one for the first time he made it to the world rank one too. And recently, he hilariously revealed what it was, leaving the entire golf world in shock.

Rahm is undoubtedly one of the greats in the sport. He’s spent a total of 43 weeks at the No. 1 position and he believes that currently too he deserves to be there.

The golf world runs amuck with Rahm’s latest revelation

Ahead of the WM Phoenix’s opening this week, Rahm sat down for an interview on Tuesday. The Spaniard of late seems determined to take back his place atop the OWGR chart, and it prompted the reporter to question him about the first time he made it there. He asked the 9-time PGA Tour winner if there was a souvenir other than the trophy from the event.

The 2021 US Open winner’s response shocked the entire audience. “I do. His name is Kepa. “He’s almost two years old,” said the Spanish star, laughing. “We suspect that it was that night.” No one had expected this as a response; they were stunned. Golf fans, too. And they sure let Ram know that all over Twitter.

When did Jon Rahm first become the world’s No. 1?

Four years after turning pro, the 9-time European Tour winner won his fourth PGA Tour event. Rahm defeated Ryan Palmer by three strokes at Muirfield Village Golf Club to win the title and also enough OWGR points to move him to the top of the standings. On the 19th of July 2020, he officially became the world’s top-ranked golfer as per the OWGR.

His son Kepa Cahill Rahm was born on April 3, 2021. Well, that seems extremely close to nine months after his ascension. Perhaps the Spanish is right, and his son is the embodiment of his first time at the top of the gold world. What a story to tell him when he grows up!
