The first major golf championship of 2023 is currently in motion at the prestigious Augusta National. Fans have tuned in for the action, with one golfing legend, in particular, being at the center of all the attention. The legend in question is none other than the 15-time-major winner, Tiger Woods. Despite battling injuries and pain, the 47-year-old is competing to match Jack Nicklaus’ six-time Masters record.

With Woods playing to make a record-tying 23rd cut at Augusta this year, he has now found support in his niece and pro-golfer, Cheyenne Woods.

A five-time Masters champion, Woods is currently vying to win his 6th at Augusta. Starting from his first win at the 1997 Masters, the golfer has made 22 cuts at the iconic golf course. Woods’ niece, Cheyenne, has now shown support for the golfer. Speaking to Sky Sports Golf, the 32-year-old mentioned that her uncle “can do things that nobody else can.

Every week that we see him come out, we are still wondering how does he do it?,” said Cheyenne. She also spoke at length about his struggles with his injury. “As much as he has been through with his body, he is still able to go out and compete. Even with him being on the cut line is impressive.”

Shedding light on Woods’ form in the 87th edition of Masters, the LPGA golfer noted, “You are seeing him limp a little bit. He is definitely struggling (with) walking.” However, Cheyenne Woods is positive about her uncle’s chances of making the cut. “He is getting through it. He is on the cut line. He has never missed the cut at the Masters.

Before the ominous weather halted play, Woods was seen lagging behind LIV golfer, Brooks Koepka, who is in smashing form at the tournament. Currently, however, making the cut is the more significant goal for the legend.

Since 1997, the golfer has made 22 consecutive cuts in the tournament, which is the longest active streak and second-longest in the sport’s history. If he makes the cut this year, the golfer will tie with Fred Couples and Gary Player, both of whom are tied at 23 consecutive cuts made at the Masters.
