The feud between LIV Golf and PGA Tour is not new to any golf fan. It has been there ever since the first season of the league back in 2022. Phil Mickelson joined LIV Golf for a whopping sum of $200,000,000. Recently, former golfer and Golf Channel analyst, Brandel Chamblee, spoke on the Dan Patrik Show about his take on Phil Mickelson leaving the PGA Tour and all the things he has missed out on by doing so!

Would Mickelson have been the best commentator in the history of golf?

Chamblee thinks that Phil Mickelson is very entertaining and would have been the best commentator for the sport. “If Phil hadn’t gone to LIV, hadn’t been actively recruiting players to LIV, and actively trying to undermine the PGA Tour, he would have been given a spot in the booth where he would have been unbelievable” replied Chamblee.

Chamblee expressed his disappointment about the road chosen by Mickelson. He thought of Mickelson’s future to be one of the brightest in the history of golf. “He would have been ridden to sunset as one of the greatest caretakers of the game and it’s just sad that he torpedoed that legacy”. “Phil is bright, he’s talkative and he is not scared to share his opinion, he could’ve been the best commentator in the history of golf.” said 60-year-old, Chamblee.

Phil Mickelson at the Champions Dinner 2023

Fans expected a lot of drama at this year’s Champions Dinner but to their surprise, there was none. According to Golf Digest, the six time major winner was awfully silent at the dinner and just kept to himself. He came and sat at the end of the table and did not speak at all as a gesture and out of respect to Scheffler. “He just came in there, and I think out of respect for Scottie and I think that’s a nice gesture by Phil”, commented Chamblee.
