LIV golfer, Patrick Reed, hasn’t been a big fan of his image among media houses. The 32-year-old hasn’t held back against his gloomy narrative on many occasions. Recently, he sued certain news reporters and their associations with a defamation lawsuit, which raised eyebrows. But in the words of Reed, he was being painted as a “black hat” on vile accusations.

Patrick Reed lets it all out
Reed doesn’t mince words when talking about his image perception in the golf world. But he believes the narrative came through media houses, and feels wronged by it. He once gave his penny for thoughts in an interview with the ‘Sunday Times’, believing he needed to defend himself from the situation.
“Everyone who knows the true me knows it’s not this narrative that the PGA Tour and the Golf Channel have built,” Reed accused. “It feels like the media have painted me as this black hat, and they’ve just allowed that to keep on driving their clicks as well as the amount of income they can bring in from attacking me.”

The LIV golfer further explained his reason for distrust. “They run with everything they can find or try to spin it in a negative way. It’s hard to even talk about it because of how fictitious it is. The malice and deceit to say something like that about somebody is just ridiculous,” Reed added.
Patrick Reed’s $750 incredible lawsuit
The 2018 Masters winner wasn’t satisfied with his claims regarding the media reports. He wanted monetary compensation, as much as an eye-watering $750 million. But what prompted Reed to take such an insecure step?

As it happened, the 32-year-old was fed up with analyst Brandel Chamblee of ‘Golf Channel’ and his accusations against him. Reed’s attorneys felt their client was being labeled as a cheat after the nine-time PGA event winner’s antics at the 2019 Hero World Challenge. Reed had been penalized with two penalty strokes, improving his lie in a bunker, which he denied was done on purpose.
