Tiger Woods is undoubtedly golf’s biggest entity. With 15 Majors to his name, Woods is highly regarded as one of the greats if not the greatest to embrace the game of golf. Tiger Woods hasn’t shared an opinion on LIV Golf, up until now. The golf legend finally opened up about his take on the Saudi-backed Golf Tour.

Woods is all set to participate in the 150th anniversary of The Open Championship at the prestigious St. Andrews. Woods has admitted this could be his last time playing golf at the legendary British Course.

Woods was asked all types of questions during his press conference. The reporters wasted no time in asking Woods about his perception of LIV Golf.

Tiger Woods has a message for LIV Golf players

In his first time mentioning LIV Golf, Woods took the opportunity to send a message to the LIV Golf players. He believed they deserted the Tour which gave a platform to establish themselves.

Tiger Woods said, “I think that what they’ve done is they’ve turned their back on what has allowed them to get to this position. Some players have never got a chance to even experience it. They’ve gone right from the amateur ranks right into that organisation and never really got a chance to play out here and what it feels like to play a TOUR schedule or to play in some big events.”

Woods also felt worried that some of the talented and young LIV Golf players may never find the opportunity to play in a Major, especially The Masters. He also questioned the players for their huge guaranteed salary. Woods questioned, “What is the incentive to go out there and earn it in the dirt?”

Apart from being worried about young golfers, Woods further mocked the Greg Norman-led Golf Tour for its number of holes.

Woods lashes out on LIV Golf’s 54 holes

Several people have mocked the LIV Golf Tout for it’s number of holes. The Tour doesn’t follow the regular 72-hole rule which is common in the game of golf. Instead it follows a new format of 54 holes which has earned it a nickname of “54 Tour”.

Woods said, “I just don’t see how, out of 54 holes — I can understand 54 holes is almost like a mandate when you get to the Senior Tour. The guys are little bit older and a little more banged up. But when you’re at this young age and some of these kids — they really are kids who have gone from amateur golf into that organisation — 72-hole tests are part of it. We used to have 36-hole playoffs for major championships.”

The 15-time Major Champion believes that the LIV Golf’s rule of 54 hole will be a failure in the long run. Moreover, Woods sounded worried that soon the World Golf Rankings for the LIV Golf players will become insolvent.

It’s safe to say Tiger Woods will continue to play for the 92-year-old Golf PGA Tour, at least in the near future.
