Tiger Woods expresses gratitude
The Open Championship is the oldest and undeniably one of the most prestigious tournaments in golf. One of the four major golf tournaments, one in every five editions, is played at the Old Course.
Tiger Woods, in his glorious career, has notched 15 major wins in his career. Among them, he has three Open championship wins, and luckily for him, two of them played out at the Old Course itself. And the honor of this was not lost to Woods.

Expressing his gratitude, he beautifully said, “It may be years before I fully appreciate it, but I am inclined to believe that winning The Open at the Home of Golf is the ultimate achievement in the sport.”
This line came after his 2000 Open win, his second consecutive major championship win. He won with a mighty eight-stroke lead on Thomas Bjorn and Ernie Els. Following this, he became not only the fifth golfer to complete a career grand slam but also the youngest ever. In fact, his first four major wins combined to give him this achievement.
In 2001, Woods had the honour of competing for this trophy at a historic course again. And yet again, he seized this opportunity to snag the title for his 10th major and second open title. Like Arnold Palmer, this was Jack Nicklaus’s last Open Championship, which he finished on the Old Course.
