Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson had probably one of the fiercest rivalries in the history of the sport. However, their rivalry has turned into a friendship over the years, and both are famous for their friendly banters. Moreover, the 15-time major championship once revealed the thing that he does not like about Phil Mickelson.

Alan Shipnuck revealed Tiger Woods’ disdain towards Phil Mickelson

The lefty who is a six-time major championship winner and also a member of the World Golf Hall of Fame is known for his fine class around the greens. But on the contrary Tiger Woods feels that the 45-time PGA Tour winner does not work hard. Moreover, Alan Shipnuck revealed more about the same and much more in Tigers’ new HBO documentary.

According to Shipnuck Tiger would look at Phil with “disdain” because while Mickelson was as talented as Woods, he did not work hard. Shipnuck also revealed that Woods grew up in the shadows of Mickelson in Southern California, Phil was six years older than him. And has talent equal to that of Woods.

Alan said, “Tiger knew that Phil was the most naturally gifted player ever to hold a golf club. But Tiger looked at him with disdain. He couldn’t fathom having that much ability but not putting in the time to be great.”

According to Shipnuck, Woods’ felt disdain towards Phils largely because of his physical build. He added, “Phil had about 20 extra pounds, and Tiger was looking more and more like Mr. Universe.”

Tiger vs. Phil the match

Back in 2018, Tiger and Phil played a friendly exhibition match at the Shadow Creek Golf Course in Las Vegas. The match eas extended into an epic two-men playoff. Finally, Phil emerged as the winner by sinking a five-foot putt for birdie. As a result, he won a whopping sum of $9 million. The match was extended to four playoff holes. Looks like Phil had the last laugh.
