Nelly Korda has made the headlines many times now. It often is either about her reclaiming the world’s number one position, or a recent win she acquired, or her performance in an event. This time was a little different. Korda was recently in the news due to the details of the health issues she faced earlier this year.

The health issue Nelly Korda went through
In March of this year, Korda suffered from a blood clot in her right arm. In a recent interview, her swing instructor, Jamie Mulligan, dove into details about the incident. He claimed it was a lot more serious than everyone thought. “It was scary,” he said.

He narrated the incident, saying that they were in Florida for an instruction shoot. Jamie had called Nelly to check up on her. He got worried because she was sounding emotional. He said, “Nelly’s not usually emotional and she was sounding emotional and she said, ‘My hands are turning weird colors.’” Mulligan went on to say that he immediately made some calls to get Nelly some medical attention.

Korda was diagnosed with a blood clot, and a procedure was conducted. He said the procedure supposed to take 45-minutes but took nearly 3 hours. He continued to explain the severity of the incident and said, “You know, it was two centimeters from her heart. I mean, she could’ve died.”

Korda claims the article was exaggerated
The world No. 1 was asked about the details of her health problems that were now making headlines. She said it certainly wasn’t as intense as the writers had made it seem. She was not happy and said, “I think that was blown out of proportion a good bit.”

Nelly went on to point out that she was very private about her medical life and said, “It was definitely not that bad, but I’m very private about my medical history and my medical issues.” She gave the media no more confirmation or details about the incident. Korda persistently reiterated the article’s exaggeration.

Korda recently took home both a trophy and a win in the Pelican Women’s Championship. She is now far from concerned about the articles floating around about her health. Her mind is preoccupied with the $2 million tournament that begins today.
