Watch: John Daly and His Son Show a Heartwarming Gesture Towards Fans at the Open Championship

John Daly is one of the most fan-favorite golfers. He is always respectable and kind when he interacts with fans. Even though he hasn’t won plenty of events like Tiger Woods, he is still a golfer admired by many. Fans also love Daly for his unique and unorthodox lifestyle. He also doesn’t shy away from talking about it any chance he gets.

John Daly has won two major championships in his career. First, he won the PGA Championship in 1991 and then the Open Championship in 1995. Therefore, he is all set to compete in the upcoming 150th Open Championship at the St. Andrews golf course and the fans are loving him already.

John Daly shows an incredible gesture toward a fan at the 2022 Open Championship

As a former Open Champion, John Daly has received an exemption to compete in the 150th Open Championship. He is here with his son, John Daly II. His son was with him on the bag during the practice rounds and will most probably be his caddie throughout the week.

Meanwhile, during his practice session on Wednesday, Daly saw a few fans cheering for him. So while walking off, he took a couple of golf balls, signed them, and asked his son to give them to the cheering fans. This gesture made the fans happy, including a boy who was very excitedly rooting for  him.

Therefore, when asked about his memories of John Daly, “His beard,” said the young boy. “And winning the Open in, I think, 1995.” He further described his long beard and said, “It’s brilliant, looks like Santa.” This brilliant gesture from team Daly at St. Andrews won the hearts of people who came to watch them play.

Meanwhile, 56-year-old Daly is not the favorite to lift the trophy this week . He is in the twilight of his career and perhaps wants to enjoy the game. However, his son, John Daly II, is making a name for himself with a decent performance in college golf.

He was also the primary reason Team Daly won the 2021 PNC Championship, the father-son event held each year in December. So, joining his dad in St. Andrews will be an incredible learning experience for the young Daly.
