WATCH! ‘Sorry If I Offended Anybody’: When Tiger Woods Suffered a Rare Meltdown at the Masters

Tiger Woods is one of the, if not the, most successful professional golfers in history. He has won over 100 pro tournaments worldwide, including 15 majors and 18 World Golf Championships. He has also created plenty of records throughout his career, some of which are still intact. 

However, having the most respectable career doesn’t mean the person has to be perfect in every way! As a human being, the 15-time major champion had showcased his flaws sometimes on and off the course. In fact, Woods was once criticized by the golf world when he lost his temper during a prestigious tournament after making a wrong shot! 

Tiger once expressed his rage at the Masters after a shot went wrong!

The incident happened during the second round in the Augusta National at the 2012 Masters Tournament. He posted a 72 from the first round and couldn’t see any improvement during round 2, making him lose his cool.

In the video, the viewer can see that the frustration of not being able to make a good shot led Woods to drop his 9-iron to the ground at No. 16 on Friday. 

While many golfers are known to do such things in rage, the golf world didn’t expect this from one of the legends of the game. “Inexplicable,” one of the commentators said after watching Woods kick his 9-iron after dropping it to the ground! 

Tiger Woods apologized for his actions!

Yelling, screaming, throwing clubs… even such things are considered unacceptable as per golf etiquette. Therefore, Tiger Woods dropping and kicking his golf club in rage made golf fans criticize him.

“I’m sorry if I offended anybody by that,” Woods said through The Augusta Chronicle. “I certainly heard that people didn’t like me kicking the club,” he added. “I didn’t like it either.” 

Moreover, he jokingly added, “I hit it in the bunker, and it didn’t feel good on my toe, either.” Woods finished the round with a 75 on Friday. Although he made the cut and made it to the final legs, he could only secure a T40 position on the leaderboard by scoring all rounds in the 70s.
