While the 47-year-old has undergone injuries and subsequent surgeries, it may have seemed like he would stop rooting for his son while holding his bag. But fortunately, that hasn’t been the case!

The 15-time major champion appears to continue his caddy duties for his son despite the rough patch in his career. Moreover, the Golf GOAT is not just on his bag, but also imparting his unique traits onto the younger Woods. And, as per recent comments made by a PGA Champions pro, that is unquestionably the case.

Charlie Woods is a spitting image of his father

The PGA Tour Champions is in Frisco, Texas, for the season’s second major – the Senior PGA Championship. Justin Leonard too is among the veteran stars competing at the event, and fresh off caddying for his son, Luke Leonard. Just recently Luke played against Charlie Woods in a junior club championship in Florida. It brought out some exciting moments for the 50-year-old to witness, alongside the golf legend himself.

During the press conference before the major, Leonard, of course, was questioned about the showdown between Luke and Charlie. That’s when the golf pro opened up, revealing a beautiful moment on the course he had witnessed right besides Woods who was caddying for son Charlie, at the tournament.

The Senior Tour player revealed that it was the first time that Charlie and Luke were playing against each other, and that it had been fun to witness. He added that during the showdown, young Woods pulled off an amazing shot. “There was a shot that Charlie hit into 12, which was a par-5, this beautiful high like soft cut, looked like a 3-hybrid or something. Landed on the green, and it stopped dead,” he stated. And despite the shot being stunning, it was the club twirl that followed that caught the pro’s attention!

“There might have been a little bit of a club twirl at the end of it,” he stated. “And I walked by Tiger, I go, okay, a lot of that looked very familiar, and we both had a good chuckle.” Clearly the adorable club twirl that Charlie has undoubtedly picked up from his father, was something that the 50-year-old just had to point out to Woods, who couldn’t help but laugh in amusement.

Moreover, it was clear from Leonard’s words that there is a lot of Tiger Woods in Charlie already, and the 47-year-old will undoubtedly be proud of that…after all he has always been there for him as a coach and mentor.

Tiger Woods as a caddie and mentor for son, Charlie Woods

The 15-time major champion has been coaching Charlie since he was a little child. The five-time Green Jacket winner did not stop at just mentoring his son. He took their bond to another level by caddying and eventually playing with the young Woods. The first outing of the father-son duo on the golf course happened back in December 2020. The 47-year-old started by playing with his son at the PNC Championship. However, things did not go too well for them at the event. The duo finished in seventh place. While there was no win for them at the event, the real win was the bond that both of them shared. This bond eventually developed more over time.

From that point on, the father and son have continued to play together. Woods has also continued to caddie for Charlie at various junior tournaments. The 15-time major winner has even admired his son’s passion for the game on several occasions. Moreover, Woods has also called his young one a “little artist” on the greens.

Charlie has surely shown some glimpses of his father’s playing style. However, it is unclear if he will follow in his father’s footsteps. However, it is sure that Woods will continue to support and teach his son, whatever his own condition might be.
