The rivalry between Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson is not something new. The pros have been competing against each other for ages. Despite having respect for each other as golfers, the duo leave no opportunity to prove themselves better than others. The 2018 match was like the ignition of the existing fire in the golf world.

Without losing a second, Mickelson took to his Twitter account and made a dig at the former No.1. The tweet immediately became the reason for a war on the golf course and Twitter. Prio to the match, the G.O.A.T., uploaded a poster of ‘The Match’ on his Twitter handle. Mickelson replied sarcastically with a laughing emoji, “I bet you think this is the easiest $9M you will ever make.” The pro-Woods was not going to sit back and relax; he replied even with more sarcasm and took a more extensive dig. He wrote, “Think you will earn some bragging rights?” And in the last reply, the challenge was on with the LIV player’s comment, “Let’s do this #TigerVsPhil.”

The rivals did not directly say anything to each other but indirectly reflected their personalities. According to Mickelson, Woods was sure he would win the match and, therefore, make the easiest $9 million. The former no.1 reflected that if a former PGA member wins the game, he will keep bragging about it.

LIV defector, Mickelson, carded a 4-footer for birdie. It was on the fourth extra hole against Woods in the showdown in November 2018. He registered the victory under his name and won the purse of $9 million in 22 holes at Shadow Creek. Apart from the purse amount, the pro golfer also won $400,000 in the side bet during the contest.

It was a special moment for the former PGA member. He again took a dig and said Woods was a G.O.A.T. and a skilled player; however, he would never let him live this one down.
