Ruffels revealed a story from back in 2016, in which Phil and he decide to play a friendly practice round wager. The 51-year-old professional also made him quite the offer and gave him 2-1 odds. If Phil lost to Ryan, he would pay him $5,000. However, if Ryan lost, he would pay Mickelson $2,500 once he turned professional. Moreover, Ryan won by one shot and took home Phils’ money.

However, Mickelson did not like Ruffels revealing the same. He said, “He’s young, and he’s got some things to learn. One of them is you don’t discuss certain things. You don’t discuss specifics of what you play for. And you certainly don’t embellish and create a false amount just for your own benefit.”

He added, “So those things right there are – that’s high school stuff, and he’s going to have to stop doing that now that he’s out on the PGA Tour.”
