PGA Tour Pro Brendon Todd is presently chasing his 4th Tour victory at the John Deere Classic being held at TPC Deere Run. His last victory on the tour came in November 2019, at the Mayakoba Golf Classic. After that Todd is on the lookout for another win. And this Sunday, it looks like he finally will be able to fulfill that dream.

With a 45-foot birdie, he claimed a solo lead during the third round at the event on Saturday. However, this is not just the result of practice. Todd has made some important changes in hardware. He has also changed his caddie. Both have combined to bring him amazing results.

Besides the sharpness of the golfer, the caddie plays an important role in their success. The added benefit of an extra pair of eyes and another brain on the green is a big aid to any golfer.

Perhaps that is why Brendon took David Clark on board for this week’s important event. Let’s find out more on Todd’s new caddie Clark and his impressive streak on the PGA Tour.

Who is David Clark and who has he caddied for before?

David Clark has been a caddie on the PGA Tour for a long time now. He has a very impressive portfolio as he has been the bagman for some of the biggest names in golf like Vijay Singh, Paul Casey, and Justin Rose. In 2017, David was a caddie for Adam Scott. For the 2017 PGA Championship, Adam switched to Clark to be his eye on the ground. During that time Adam’s original caddie was Steve Williams. But in between Adam also had requested Clark to bring his decade of experience on the field for him.

In an interview before the tournament, Adam had said  “Clarkey’ is caddying next week. He hasn’t caddied for me for 15 weeks so he needed to come out here. He’s only caddied five times for me this year.” Adam didn’t fire Williams, he just wanted a fresh perspective. Williams himself is a big name who has been a caddie for Tiger Woods for 13 of his major victories.

Another big name that Clark caddied for is Justin Rose. In 2021 Rose turned to Clark to assist him on the ground. Before that, the two initially worked together way back in 2005 after which they developed a deep friendship. One of the best qualities of Clark is that he keeps his golfers relaxed on the ground which makes playing the game easier. And Rose admires this about him. He says “You could have a caddie who’s giving you great data, but you want someone to come in who’s going to inspire you or say something at the right time – make you laugh, make you smile.”

Clark believes in the same. “That is one thing I think I help players with – loosening them up and being happy and trying to just take them away from what they’re trying to do out there,” he once said. Apart from Adam and Rose, David has also extended his caddie services to Paul Casey and Fijian golfer Vijay Singh.

Becoming the caddie of Brendon Todd

And now Brendon has recognized the sharp experience and impressive qualities of David Clark and chose him to be his aid on the ground. In a recent interview given during the Deere Classic, Todd was asked about these recent changes and that do they instantly mean success. To which Todd replied, “I don’t know but I sure love when they do. David Clark is my caddie this week. It has been a dream start for us. We are getting along really well. He’s helped me a lot with my game and on-course demeanor, so looking forward to tomorrow with him.
