Tiger Woods is all set to make his 26th appearance at the Augusta National Golf Course. From scouting the course weeks before its onset to adopting rather bizarre methods to increase his chances, Woods seems to be ready to do all it takes to win that Green Jacket! But who will carry his bag and witness this life-shifting moment for the 48-year-old up close if he wins for the sixth time?

Well, it seems his caddie from the 2024 Genesis Invitational, Lance Bennett, will accompany him to the first major of the season as well. The Virginia-born veteran caddie comes with years of experience and insight. In the past, he has caddied for the likes of Sungjae Im, Davis Riley, Matt Kuchar, Bill Haas, Juli Inkster, Lorena Ochoa, and even Paula Creamer!

It remains unclear if their bond will turn into a long-lasting one or not like it did the Woods’s previous caddies such as Steve Williams or Joe LaCava. But, considering the 82-time PGA Tour winner’s trust in Bennett, that is highly likely to be the case. While their Genesis Invitational run did not prove as successful because of the deterioration of Woods’s health condition due to Influenza and recurring back spasms, Woods termed his new confluence as a “great team.”

Describing his Masters accomplice, the 15x major champion said, “(He’s) very down to earth, very loyal, and how he has conversated with his players through the years, I’ve obviously taken notice of that… We are going to be a great team, and I look forward to the challenge.”

Since his mutually accepted separation from Joe LaCava, Woods has undergone a spiral of several temporary loopers, including his daughter Sam Woods and business partner Rob McNamara at PNC Championship and Hero World Challenge respectively. But with this more steady-looking bond with Bennett, is Woods likely to win this year’s Green Jacket?

While only time can answer a question so unpredictable, Woods’s history as a 5-time Masters winner combined with his long list of top-notch appearances surely gives him an upper hand, as he is more intricately in touch with the greens of Augusta National Golf Course than possibly any other player on the list of invited pro golfers.

But at the same time, it is important to make note of his recent performances and almost regular withdrawals that TW has had citing physical health impediments, which make it highly likely that he might not make it to the glorious Masters Sunday. “The Tiger era is over,” remarked one fan on this question, highlighting the mindset of many of the formal Woods’s loyalists.

Whether Woods’s sacrifices in terms of his fitness and his pledge of celibacy will act in his favor or rule against him is yet to be seen.
