The golfers took the center stage in the first two rounds of the CJ Cup Byron Nelson. Earlier, Scottie Scheffler shot a round of 61 at first, surpassing the old record of Byron Nelson by two strokes. In the second too, he kept the same rhythm despite the weather delay. He shot a round of 63 to stay in the lead. Well, not just him, but Sam Stevens (65) and Ricky Castillo (66) also stayed close to the leaderboard. Now, as we step into the third day of the tournament and the month of May, the event is taking up a new initiative to promote and share the monumental steps for humanity. Apart from the golfing action, the third round at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson, players, caddies, and even the spectators, will be spotted in green. You may ask why?

In the past, colours have been the identity of golfers and new initiatives. Tiger Woodss red color showcased good luck, while the yellow worn by Jack Nicklaus honored Craig Smith, his friend who had cancer. The tradition of yellow was kept up with the Memorial Tournament, as it had a dedicated “Play Yellow” initiative for a fundraising campaign for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. But the color green is something new, which was only spotted at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson this year.

Well, similar to the yellow ribbon, the green also denotes support towards the rising issue of mental health. May, being the mental health awareness month, has brought in the new initiative of “Green Out.” The topic of mental health in regards to golf isn’t new, as earlier, LPGA pro Lexi Thompson shared about her mental health struggle while retiring in 2024.

Now, with the issue being escalated, the tournament has stepped ahead to add a new initiative to the portfolio of fundraising. On Saturday, 3rd May, 2025, the players and the caddie will be spotted with green ribbons and bibs, respectively. Even the organisers requested the spectators to bring out green in support of mental health. The fans will get an opportunity to win an upgraded hospitality ticket when spotted in green, as per the official Instagram account story of the CJ Cup Byron Nelson.
