McIlroy pranked the lady, as he pretended to hit the ball right from her lap. However, he retracted and called out, “Right, erm, referee”. The referee appeared and instructed McIlroy on how to hit it.

The Irish golfer hit the ball and subsequently carded a bogey for the third time. McIlroy finished the first round, one under 71, and tied for 15. The video was later published on the DP World Tour’s social media handles. The online spectators reacted to the hilarious and awkward situation.
