Golf prides its players on their exceptional job that helps to maintain the love of the viewers towards the sport. However, more often than not, we forget the important role played by the Caddies in the sport. Pádraig Harrington recently brought to light this very fact. The Irish professional golfer highlighted how the role of a caddie goes way beyond carrying the bag.

Pádraig Harrington on the role of a caddie
The three-time major champion was one of the very few golfers who made a choice to bring the topic of the hard work caddies do to light. But what is a caddie? A caddie is a person who carries a player’s bag and clubs and gives the player advice and moral support during the game.

On speaking on the aforementioned topic, Harrington said, “You’d be shocked the job that Caddie has to do out there.”

He also said, “Getting the yardage…carrying the bag is the least of his work. He has to give a strong opinion when it’s needed. But mostly he has to act as your psychologist out there.”
Truly, the caddie’s job is understated in more ways than one. The amount of effort they are expected to put in goes on without being acknowledged.

Padraig’s Caddie, however, seems to have luck on his side. He works with Harrington, and surely Harrington does try his best to bring forth his work.
Pádraig on LIV Golf
Although, Harrington did not jump to LIV Golf. He still also chose not to object to the people who did choose to defect to LIV Golf for walking to play the Tours.

He said, “I strongly believe the majors should stay above everything. I would not want to turn up at a major and not play against the best players in the world. They need to say, ‘We’re above all this.’”
When the topic of some of his friends playing LIV golf came up. He clarified that he would not want to throw anyone under the bus.
