8-time Wimbledon champion Roger Federer is arguably the greatest tennis player to have ever dignified the game. Although he’s in the twilight of his career, the Swiss remains a top contender whenever he puts a foot on the court. The fluency in his gameplay is far from being matched.
Over all these years, there have been millions of kids who looked up to men of such stature. Having a chance to meet people belonging to such a class does get an individual fascinated. Federer has often been compared to the greats of other sports over different eras.

Gregoire Barrere: Roger Federer Is Beyond Sports
Recently, a French tennis player, Gregoire Barrere, reflected back on his first meeting with the living legend. He said, “I’ve never played with him yet. The first time you meet him, it’s bound to be a bit disturbing. He is like the Jordans, the Maradonas … These sportsmen are guys beyond sport.”

Meeting Federer for the first time can surely get the better of a person at any given time. Gregoire had a similar kind of feeling when he first spoke to Roger.
He revealed more about his first-ever meeting with the 20-time Grand Slam winner and stated, “It’s weird at first and then you start to get used to it, you just deal with it, you know you can play it. You have to put all that aside. Except for a few hellos, I never chatted with him. I know his coach a little bit, but otherwise, it was always very brief with ‘Roger'(laughs).”
Reflecting on Federer this season, we’ve not seen him in action since the Australian Open at the beginning of the year. He had to undergo surgery on his knee which forced him to remain out of the game for a fair amount of time.
