The death of Black Panther fame Chadwick Boseman came as a shock to fans across the globe. The reputed actor was battling colon cancer since 2016. He passed away at his home on Friday in the company of his wife and the rest of his family. Boseman starred in the movies 21 Bridges (2019) and Da 5 Bloods (2020) over the last two years in his career. The Hollywood star became a household name after portraying the character ‘T’Challa’ in Marvel Universe’s Black Panther series.

However, Chadwick Boseman shared a connection with the world of NFL as well.

Chadwick Boseman starred in NFL-based movie ‘Draft Day’ in 2014

Boseman played the fictional character, Vontae Mack, in 2014 movie Draft Day. He played a potential NFL draft prospect in that movie with veteran actor Kevin Costner in a leading role. As seen above, Boseman’s character eventually joins Cleveland Browns in the draft. The movie also has Jennifer Garner in a starring role and baseball player Anthony Rizzo. In addition to that, the movie features popular NFL personalities Deion Sanders and Jon Gruden as well.

From Marshall to Da 5 Bloods, August Wilson’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and several more, all were filmed during and between countless surgeries and chemotherapy. ⁣ ⁣ It was the honor of his career to bring King T’Challa to life in Black Panther. ⁣ ⁣ He died in his home, with his wife and family by his side. ⁣ ⁣ The family thanks you for your love and prayers, and asks that you continue to respect their privacy during this difficult time. ⁣ ⁣ Photo Credit: @samjonespictures

Boseman leaves behind a lasting legacy, especially through his role as The ‘Black Panther’. The highly-rated performer breathed life into the character of T’Challa over the last four years. Children and adults the world over will forever epitomize Chadwick as the king of his fictional kingdom Wakanda. He served as an icon to black people in America amidst the ongoing civil struggles in the country. His death will only serve as a memoir of how he was the ultimate standard of a true leader, on the big screen, and off it as well. Wakanda Forever!
