Dominic Thiem On The ‘Big 3’
Austrian star Dominic Thiem recently appeared on the ATP Tennis Radio Podcast. In the podcast, he was asked about whether he feels on par with the ‘Big 3’ due to his recent successes against them. To this question, Dominic replied by saying,
“It’s important that we NextGen players put pressure on them. I think for the statistics and the titles, they are just so far ahead. I am pretty sure I won’t catch them.”

While The Austrian feels that he may not be able to match the incredible record of the ‘Big 3’, he can definitely be the one who ends their reign at the Grand Slams. And he is very close to doing exactly that.

Dominic Thiem is the only player from the NextGen who has reached multiple Grand Slam finals. In 2018 and 2019, he reached the final of the French Open but he sadly lost to the ‘King of Clay’ Rafael Nadal.
His best chance to finally win a Grand Slam came this year at the Australian Open where he faced Novak Djokovic in the final. He was leading to 2 sets to one but Novak pulled off a stunning comeback to steal the title.
The Austrian is definitely not going to let something like that happen ever again. He is going to be training extremely hard so that he can end the reign of the ‘Big 3’ at the Grand Slams. And he will be able to do that once the ATP Tour returns in August.
