Triple H stated that he did not believe John Cena had anything to offer the business back in the day. But Cena proved him and many others wrong with his skill, charisma, and desire to put in the work to succeed. However, that rise to stardom led to a certain section of fans and peers turning on John Cena. Moreover, that also gave birth to the “Cena s*cks” chants to WWE’s supposed top babyface.
As the Cenation Leader climbed the ladder of success, many stories began running wild about his road to the top. For years, some WWE superstars have claimed that John used his backstage influence to bury young talent with his “mythical golden shovel.” However, Cena has also been known to put many talents on the map, such as Bray Wyatt, Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, and most recently Austin Theory.

Cena recently appeared on the Busted Open Radio podcast. He talked about his supposed reputation of holding back others. Furthermore, he also spoke about putting his heart and soul into the build-up for his match with Austin Theory at WrestleMania 39.
“I can only help the person I was working with while I was working with him … and the reputation I had in the sauce while I was in it that I bury talent … because I would really invest my whole heart in this … like I sat with Austin Theory for 10 hours … like not wasted a day … invested a day to talk about our why … what’s our story going to be …and I would do that with everyone … like I live it … my heart’s on the plate,” said Cena.
