At the 2021 F1 season finale at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Kyle Larson was one of the many spectators. Obviously, there were many celebrities at the Yas Marina Circuit, or glued to their TVs. However, while he is well-recognized in the United States as a NASCAR champion, he was just another fan in Abu Dhabi.

What did Kyle Larson say about F1

He said, “It’s just so different. Formula 1 is so worldly known. But I’ve got massive amounts of respect for all these drivers. Especially Lewis and Max for the performances they’ve put on this year and the battle that they’ve had. I’m getting to meet a lot of people. I don’t know if anybody knows who I am here, but it’s been cool.”

It is worth mentioning that Larson’s statistics are comparable to the aforementioned drivers. Like the Dutchman, Kyle Larson also bagged 10 wins in the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series season. Additionally, if NASCAR had a podium system, he would have had eight podiums this year.

Larson also talked about whether he felt right at home among the top F1 drivers. Larson confessed that he would probably get this feeling in America. However, outside the country, not many will recognize him because it is a bigger world out there. Drivers like Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen and others, are world-renowned, which is why they are on top.

He continued, “I feel we’re still a step below even though I had a great couple of seasons now. These guys are on a whole other level of stardom and fame, I’m in awe of being here. I’m a fanboy today and hopefully someday I can climb the ladder and keep getting more well-known.”

Larson also admitted that he would have loved to step in an F1 car to drive. However, there would have been a fair number of issues, especially in terms of licenses. Nevertheless, Kyle Larson truly enjoyed himself in his first live F1 race.
