Mick Schumacher to Get his First Taste of 2019 F1 Machinery

Mick Schumacher will not have to wait long to finally test a 2019 Formula One car. As it turns out, he could hop in as early as April.

According to sources from Sky Italia, the 19-year-old son of Michael Schumacher could test an Alfa Romeo. Schumacher junior was recently inducted in the Ferrari Young Drivers Academy.

Courtesy a close alliance between Alfa Romeo and Ferrari, Schumacher could get a chance to he a part of the young driver test following the conclusion of the grand prix in Bahrain.

2016 F1 World Champion, Nico Rosberg, is of the opinion that the pressure on the young German is ramping up.

“It will be a huge amount of pressure for him, and I know it too well,” he said, as quoted by Welt newspaper.

“When he drives, half of Germany is watching. I’m looking forward to it but expectations are huge. We have to give him at least two years.”

“He should take the time that he needs.”

Rosberg, son of an F1 world champion himself, said that Schumacher’s new Ferrari role is also very positive.

“Mick can learn a lot from Sebastian Vettel on a race weekend. Sebastian works very much in the same way as Mick’s father did back then,” Rosberg continued.

In the meantime, the second pre-season test is underway as all the teams look to iron out last minute issues. In addition to that, this test may also determine what the pecking order will be like for the coming season.
