The award season is here. And the much-awaited MVP finalists are revealed. Beating tough competition in the rather interesting battle all through the year, the Baseball Writers’ Association of America has revealed the names. Monday night, amid expectations and speculations, the Texas Rangers and the Los Angeles Angels have stood tall. 

The three finalists have multiple laurels to their name. While one is a 2 time World Series champion and a 2 time MVP, the other is a two-time All-Star, a Gold Glove, and a Silver Slugger award. The third finalist is the well-known pitcher and hitter who needs no introduction. Who among them is a favorite?

Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Angels is a nominee for American League MVP along with teammates Corey Seager and Marcus Semien of the Texas Rangers who were the World Series champion in 2023. With the names out, there are talks on which member would be most likely to bag the MVP this year. Could Ohtani’s win be a no brainer? 

Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman, teammates of the Los Angeles Dodgers, are among the other candidates for the National League MVP award, along with Atlanta Braves outfielder Ronald Acuna Jr. Once the votes are calculated and the top member in each category is revealed, the winners will be announced next week.

With that, fans can’t help but guess who the winner is going to be. Though Shotime had a premature exit this year, one cannot forget that he unanimously won the MVP in 2019. Although one might think that that was his best season, 2023 was even better. Given that his performance has made him a favorite, what are the likes of him securing the title?

Ohtani, a free agent, is a heavy favorite to win his second AL MVP crown in three years, despite the fact that injuries forced him to end his Los Angeles Angels season on September 3.

With that, one would have to wait till next week to find out who the winner is. While there are some wild guesses doing the rounds, only time will tell who will win. That said, fans hope that the best man wins.
