Derek Jeter openly discussed many highs & lows of his life in his new docuseries, titled ‘The Captain’. One of the episodes had an excerpt on Jeter’s friendship with Alex ‘A-Rod’ Rodriguez. The docuseries explore various significant events of Derek Jeter’s life and one such topic happens to be the bromance with Alex ‘A-Rod’ Rodriguez. Speaking in an excerpt about their relationship, ‘A-Rod’ mentioned how there was never really any competition between them, as they both wanted to do great things and make their team great. “People got off on trying to drive a wedge between Derek and I,” said ‘A-Rod, speaking about his relationship with Jeter.

‘A-Rod’ further explained the relationship, saying how there was an innocent climb at first, but once someone achieves success, people just try to split the brothers apart.

Providing his version on the topic, Derek Jeter said, “You can compare statistics all you want. So, you know, I didn’t care who hit more home runs, who had more RBIs, who had more stolen bases. I compared who won more, and we won.” 

‘A-Rod’ and Jeter turned teammates at the New York Yankees in 2004 and famously won the World Series Championship title in 2009.

Life beyond the playground 

Both ‘A-Rod’ and Jeter have retired from the game for quite some time now. While ‘A-Rod’ hung up his boots in 2016, Jeter bid farewell to the game in 2014. Since then, ‘A-Rod’ has been working as a broadcaster and business entrepreneur. Whereas Jeter was briefly the joint owner of the Miami Marlins from 2017 to 2022. Jeter lives a happy married life with his supermodel wife, Hannah Jeter, and their three daughters. 

Derek Jeter’s docuseries ‘The Captain’ released on July 18th, 2022, is available on ESPN and ESPN+ network.
